Central Banks: A scheduled FOMC meeting dominates the coming week. Newly minted Chairman Powell will preside over his first post-meeting press conference, and a 25-basis point interest rate hike is widely expected. The Fed’s forecasts will be updated. Monetary policy meetings are also occurring in Russia, The U.K., Brazil, Chile, Colombia, New Zealand, Taiwan, The Philippines, and Indonesia. Aside from Powell, Bostic, Williams and Kashkari are other Fed officials speaking publicly. The “summary” of the last Bank of Japan meeting and minutes from the last Reserve Bank of Australia policy review will be published.
Holidays and Special Meetings: Japan will be closed for the Vernal Equinox on Wednesday. A meeting of euro area government leaders occurs late in the week.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Releases: The quarterly current account. Monthly existing and new home sales, durable goods orders, and Kansas City Fed manufacturing survey. Weekly jobless insurance claims, mortgage applications, energy inventories, chain store sales, and consumer comfort.
Japanese Data Releases: Customs trade, all industry index, consumer prices, department and supermarket sales, index of leading economic indicators, and the preliminary manufacturing purchasing managers survey results.
Other Selected Asian Statistics: Chinese and Indian indices of leading economic indicators. Malaysian, Singaporean, and Hong Kong consumer prices. Hong Kong’s current account and unemployment. South Korean producer prices and Chinese property prices.
Euroland: Revised consumer prices, the current account and trade balance, construction output, consumer confidence, the ZEW index of investor sentiment, and the preliminary purchasing manager surveys for manufacturing and services.
Members of the Euro Area: German and French preliminary PMIs. German producer prices, business climate index, and ZEW index of investor confidence. French GDP, business sentiment, and index of leading economic indicators. Italian and Spanish trade figures. Italian, Greek and Portuguese current accounts. Irish and Portuguese producer prices. Austrian and Irish industrial output. Belgian and Dutch consumer confidence. Belgian business climate and Finnish unemployment.
U.K. and Switzerland: British CPI, RPI, PPI, house prices, industrial trends index, retail sales, wage earnings, unemployment, and public sector borrowing. Swiss money growth and trade balance.
Eastern Europe: Polish retail sales, industrial production and PPI. Hungary’s current account.
Nordic Europe: Icelandic and Norwegian unemployment. Danish retail sales and consumer sentiment. Icelandic consumer prices and wage inflation.
Australia and New Zealand: Australian jobs and unemployment, index of leading economic indicators, and house prices. New Zealand’s services PMI.
Turkey and South Africa: Turkish retail sales and unemployment. South African CPI and index of leading economic indicators.
Canada and Brazil: Canadian retail sales, CPI and wholesale turnover. Brazil’s current account and consumer confidence index.
