The folks at We Vibe asked if I would be interested in reviewing the We Vibe 4 Plus. It’s an insertable G-spot/clitoral medical grade silicone vibrator that can be worn for solo or M/F couples sex. The settings are touted to be controllable from a wireless remote control or a smart phone app.
“We would be the perfect couple to try this out!” I wrote in my email response.
I explained to them how Parrot and I were a long-distance couple who only saw each other about once every two months and that he was quite the geeky gadget guy. He would be in town soon so that we could try it out together as well as over the miles with the remote control app.
As soon as I got the We Vibe 4 Plus about a week before his arrival, I sent Parrot a link to the app.
“Oooh, goodie!” he replied. “I love me some technology!”

I didn’t get around to trying it out until he came into town. I loved all of the 10 dual motor vibration patterns. They are absolutely the best of any rotary motor vibrations I’ve ever experienced. I loved the fit, although it slip had a tendency to slip out since I like to use a lot of lube. But overall, it’s a nice fit. I especially liked that the vibrator is flexible enough to make a great custom and comfortable fit and that the clitoral arm is large enough to make excellent contact with the clitoris no matter where it’s positioned on any woman.
The app is wonderful in controlling the intensity levels of both motors, separately and together, something that isn’t possible with the hand-held remote control. You can even save multiple customized vibration settings on the app.
However – and this is a big, huge HOWEVER – once the We Vibe 4 Plus is fully inserted, our apps lost connection. (Apps on both phones need to be connected in order for him to use it.) After the 45 minutes we spent trying to get it to work, the mood was gone and Parrot had a plane to catch. I was bummed that we didn’t get a chance to try this out together while making love despite the technology glitch.
I tried the We Vibe 4 Plus again by myself the next day. This time when I tried using the app when it was inserted, I kept getting a message on my app saying that there was a problem with the Bluetooth connection. It was a bit of a pain taking out the We Vibe 4 Plus to resync it to my phone. (I really didn’t want to take it out. It felt that good!) After several attempts, I gave up, and I wasn’t crazy about getting lube and my natural juices all over my phone. Ick.
I checked the We Vibe 4 Plus troubleshooting section on its support page and it didn’t list the issue or a solution. I even emailed my contact at We Vibe. I still haven’t heard back from him. It’s been two weeks. For a $143 sex toy, I expect better support and customer service whether or not I’m blogger/reviewer.
Even if the app fully worked, I don’t like that I can’t use the app and talk on the phone or use Skype with Parrot. At least that’s a limitation with my iPhone 5c but not with Parrot’s Android. I can’t speak for all smart phones. I don’t like the idea of hauling my laptop into bed to Skype and getting my keyboard and mouse gunked up with lube and cum. That would be too cumbersome and nasty for me.
Overall, I love that the We Vibe 4 Plus has a rechargeable battery. It powers up and holds a charge both for about two hours. Even when the charge gets low, it still performs very well. The covered storage/charging base for the vibrator and the remote control is sleek, compact and discreet. I’m a bit disappointed that the USB charging cable doesn’t come with a wall plug power adapter. It’s something I expect with any rechargeable product, especially a luxury/$100+ sex toy. I also didn’t like that the plastic remote control gets a bit challenging to hold once it gets a bit of lube on it. A silicone remote control would be wonderful.
The We Vibe 4 Plus is definitely something that will stay in my close-at-hand nightstand sex toy stash even though I’m not crazy about not being able to adjust the settings once I insert it. I wouldn’t recommend buying it until the app issues are straightened out.
